A Day In Colorado

kurtobersteadt

If you have one day in Colorado, here are three amazing experiences in the state to include. Two are natural wonders, and one is an amazing dining spot. These three spots were recommended to me by post-it notes and didn't let me down with visiting these places almost two years ago.

The first stop is Garden of The God's located in Colorado Springs. This park is located in the Northwestern corner of Colorado Springs, about an hour south of Denver. The park offers plenty of hiking, views of the various rock formations, and a natural beauty that defines the edge of the Rocky Mountains. Allow yourself at least two to three hours or more enjoying everything the park has to offer.

The second stop is just west of the Garden Of The God's. The Cave Of The Wind offers a scenic view along with tours of the caves, challenging activities like rope courses, and outdoor activities. Gift shops are available as well as restaurants. Allow yourself about two to three hours for the activities and tours.

After two great outdoor experiences in Colorado Springs, head north for an incredible two hour drive to Idaho Springs, Colorado. The drive along highway 67 to highway 285 will leave you breathless as you drive through the Rockies. Upon arrival in Idaho Springs, there is a pizza stop like no other. Beau Jo's Pizza is a must when visiting Colorado. The pizza is measured in weight, not inches. The toppings are fresh, and the sauce is amazing. Plus, it's a Colorado style mountain pizza. For pizza, I ordered the Pepperoni and the Motherlode. Both were delicious, but the Motherlode was incredible. Note that this is for the meat lover. It's loaded with a thin inner crust and thick outer crust with Beau Jo’s pizza sauce, salami, pepperoni, meatballs, bacon, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon & mozzarella cheese. Plus, save the outer crust for desert as they leave honey on the table for a final tasty treat.

Add these three stops for experiencing Colorado in one day. The views of the Rockies along with two great outdoor experiences. Add Colorado for your upcoming travels in 2025. #ridingwithkurt
