With cooler temperatures setting in for fall and winter. There are still great areas of the country you can travel to with warmer climates. I often get asked about these areas of the country. Even have several post-it notes on visiting these areas.
The first is Arizona especially around the Scottsdale area. Seventy degree days with cooling down in the forties at night it's a great area to visit in December through February. Excellent food scene with great hiking nearby including Camel Back Mountain. Also, Old Town Scottsdale has awesome shopping. Plus venture over to the Gilbert area for a great dining experience at Joe's Farm Grill. It's a Farm to table dining experience with amazing hamburgers. Another area is also east of Phoenix and that is the area in an old mining town called Tortilla Flat. Tonto National Forest is the and has incredible views of the desert and various cactus. Finally, a great Southwestern dining experience in Scottsdale is Z Tejas. Incredible flavors with each dish at this great restaurant.
The second is South Florida around Fort Lauderdale. This has always been a spot I enjoyed visiting for both the beach and other surrounding natural beauty. During the months of January and February you can enjoy South Florida area and beaches still. Eighty degrees during the day it's definitely a place to add during the fall and winter months. Just west of Fort Lauderdale are the Everglades. This vast subtropical forest offers hiking trails and tours. You can see all sorts of incredible wildlife including the alligator, birds, and fish. Located about an hour west of Fort Lauderdale along Alligator Alley it's definitely worth the drive. For dining head to Boca Raton for Luff's Fish House. Amazing Conch Chowder , Scallops, Key Lime Pie, and many more great dishes this is definitely worth the drive. Finally, a drive down to Islamorada in the Florida Keys is a must. Stop at Seven Mile Bridge and take in the views of both the Atlantic and the Gulf. For dining head to Islamorada Fish Company. Incredible seafood dishes plus stunning views.
Arizona and South Florida are two amazing stops during the fall and winter. Both offer great airports that are very convenient. For Stays in Scottsdale I have always stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale and Phoenix. Great size rooms plus an excellent breakfast buffet. Additionally, there are fire pits and even a pool the face Camelback Mountain. In Fort Lauderdale I generally recommend two places that are right on the beach. The first is the Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort. The second is the Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, I always book through Expedia.com and utilize the reserve now pay later option. Desert, Beaches, Incredible views, amazing dining, and much warmer during the fall and winter add these two stops for upcoming travel in the United States. #ridingwithkurt
