East Nashville is located across the Cumberland River from Downtown Nashville. The area may not seem like a travel destination but it has plenty of hidden Foodie places and a couple of other stops on a visit to the Nashville area.
East Nashville has alot of diversity and culture in the area. The area has risen up over the last10 years as an area that you would not have set foot in 20 years ago but with the individuals that live there they have been able to identify it as their own special community.
The restaurant scene is big there and some of my favorites include Shotgun Willie's (amazing BBQ, especially the brisket), Hunter's Station which offers a variety of local vendors including the Grilled Cheeserie, Vui's Kitchen (amazing Bahn MI and Bone Broth), Hugh Baby's and several others at this cultural food hall. Also a great Mexican stop is Taco Mamacita aka Rosepepper Cantina.
Alicja a local to the area and someone I met today as her Uber driver who is a Sommelier at Butcher and Bee and long time individual in the restaurant industry and whose husband works with the icon Sean Brock at the Audrey as a chef recommends the following restaurants for your visit to East Nashville:
Pelican and Pig
Once Upon a Time in France
Lyra
Joyland
Butcher and Bee (original is in Charleston, SC)
Reheaded Stranger
Audrey (of course since her husband works there and restaurant of Sean Brock)
East Pho
East Banh MI
Dino's
Tacos Aurora
Smith and Lentz
Honey Tree Meadery
Tree House
You will not go wrong with and these amazing Foodie stops.
You wouldn't think of a great park to visit but East Nashville offers a great one to hike or bike on along the Greenway there. Shelby Bottoms is a great park to visit and will not disappoint with views along the Cumberland River. The Greenway stretches 8 miles and is an icon to the area.
For staying in the area plenty of my Uber riders stay at Airbnb there. Most of the homes have been renovated and offer a modern architecture touch for the area.
East Nashville is also close proximity to downtown and you can be at Broadway, Bridgestone and Nissan Stadium in under 10 minutes.
Sometimes you have to think outside the box to visit areas of this country and East Nashville is one of those. You will not be disappointed with a visit to the area whether it be for the day or long weekend.
