Eastern Montana offers two great stops that anyone seeking adventure, fly fishing, and history should add to your lists of places to travel to. The first is the Big Horn River and the Second is the Battle of Little Bighorn Battlefield. Both are icons to the area and are well worth the stop.

The Big Horn River is one of the epitome of fly-fishing out west. The prime fishing area sits below Big Horn Lake and the 15 miles below there offer some of the most amazing fly-fishing you'll find in the state. There are a few Outfitters and Lodges around Fort Smith. Restaurants can be found in Hardin. Outfitters, Lodges, and Fly-fishing shop that you can find in Fort Smith include Big Horn Fly and Tackle Shop, Bighorn Angler and Fly Shop Lodge, Big Horn Shop and Lodge, Forrester's Bighorn River Resort, and Bighorn River Lodge.

The Battle of the Little Bighorn was fought along the ridges, steep bluffs, and ravines of the Little Bighorn River, in south-central Montana on June 25-26, 1876. The combatants were warriors of the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes, battling men of the 7th Regiment of the US Cavalry. The self guided tour is 4.5 miles of road that offers stops along the way to explain each stage of the historic battle.

A stop in these two places will leave you with an appreciation of Eastern Montana and some amazing memori with photos, rivers, trout, and history.
