Yesterday, I took an individual from Nashville International Airport to Franklin. The area offers plenty of experiences for food, history, shopping, and other great stops. It is located about thirty-five minutes south of Nashville.

The city was named after Benjamin Franklin after it was founded by Dr. Hugh Williamson in 1799. The town was an epicenter for agriculture and trade. Over time, the area would gain popularity as the city of Nashville would grow. Today their are quaint shops and restaurants plus a few historical stops.

I have received plenty of post-it note recommendations for the city of Franklin. Here are some great places to check out when visiting this historic area.

For dining in Franklin:

Puckett's - Southern dining along with great BBQ.

Red Pony - Upscale Southern dining in the heart of Franklin

Cullaccino Italian Restaurant and Bar- Incredible Italian Cuisine with a sophisticated ambiance.

Etch - This popular downtown Nashville restaurant is now located at the Factory in Franklin. The fusion dining experience will not disappoint.

McCreary Irish Pub - A true Irish dining experience.

For history in Franklin:

The Battle of Franklin was a significant event for the city. In November of 1864, the Confederate Army would advance on to the city. It is considered one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. The Union would eventually win the battle, but today, you can visit the grounds. The Carter House, Carnton Plantation, Fort Granger, the Lotz House, and the Battle of Franklin Civil War Muesem all offer history information on the Battle of Franklin.

For Hotels in Franklin:

The Harpeth Franklin Downtown Curio Collection located in Downtown Franklin offers elegance along with a great location in downtown Franklin. The hotel is an easy walk to all of downtown Franklin. They offer a full service experience with an amazing stay.

Incredible dining along with history and shopping. While taking in the beauty of the historical architecture. Franklin is an area to add for your next destination to Tennessee. #ridingwithkurt
