Over two years ago, I received a message on Facebook messenger after I congratulated a friend on getting married. This individual asked me to attend his wedding. We had never met but had become friends through various Titans fan pages. I accepted the invite and booked my plane tickets and hotel as well as rental. I packed my fly-fishing gear, and little did I know this was the beginning of my journey. I would be visiting Idaho Falls, Idaho and the rest is history with me coming back and doing Uber and the beginning of post-it notes, ridingwithkurt, and my quest to see all seven continents by Post-it Notes.
Idaho Falls, Idaho, located about three hours north of Salt Lake City, offers great fly-fishing and hiking. It is only an hour and a half from Yellowstone National Park and generally a place I recommend to riders as a place to stay who are looking to visit this historic park. For stays I have stayed at the Comfort Suites which had been renovated and the rooms were very large, clean, and very comfortable beds. Additionally, I have also stayed at the Clarion Inn Idaho Falls Riverfront. Rooms were nice and offered a great location for my fly-fishing adventure two and a half years ago .
For fly-fishing, head to the South Fork of the Snake River. Amazing scenery along with sizeable trout. For local knowledge, head to Jimmy's Fly Shop in Idaho Springs. They hooked me up with the flies I needed and picked up some great souvenirs.
If you're going to Yellowstone from Idaho Falls, then there is a dining spot to add. The Slippery Otter Pub located in West Yellowstone is a must. Very creative menu with a variety of burgers choices. After an amazing dining experience, you can head into the park to experience Yellowstone.
Idaho Falls offers a great location with so many options. It began my journey and my realization of what I wanted to do in life. Add Idaho Falls for 2025 when visiting Idaho and Yellowstone National Park. #ridingwithkurt
