The island of Islamorada, Florida is a must stop on your way to Key West. The small island offers several great restaurants and plenty of tourists attractions. One restaurant that you have to stop at is the Islamorada Fish Company. Located on the Western side of the island the restaurant sits right on the water facing the Gulf of Mexico. The unbelievable views of the gulf as well as watching sea life swim by while you dine at the restaurant gets you set for a true tropical experience. The menu offers a nice variety of local catches and true Florida Key dishes. The starters that I recommend are the Conch Chowder and Conch Fritters. The Conch Chowder had a rich broth full of flavor with plenty of Conch in it. The Conch fritters are lightly fried with lots of flavor and served with a Spicy Tartar Sauce. The Main courses that are a definite go to are the Shrimp Tacos, Fried Seafood Basket, and the Fried Shrimp Basket. The servings are very large and can be shared among friends.
After lunch check out The World Wide Sportsman located next door. Great tourist stop with plenty of souvenirs plus gear for the avid Salt Water Fisherman.
From there you can travel to the 7 mile bridge and take in the views of both the Gulf and the Atlantic. The entrance to the walkway is on the southern end of the bridge and offers a coupleof markers that tell the history of the bridge. Individuals can walk up or fish from the walkway.
A stop hear at Islamorada will offer a lasting memory as you head on to the island of Key West.
