Huntington is home to the acclaimed college Marshall University which became famous from the movie We Are Marshall. The small West Virginian town offers also plenty of things to do for the hiker and artist. Restaurants and Hotels are all within proximity of all the sites.
On November 14, 1970 the town of Huntington and Marshall University would be impacted by the airplane crash that cost the beloved lives of 36 players, 9 coaches and administrators, and 25 fans, as well as, the crew. The school came together and the iconic movie that was featured in 2006 tells the story of how thus community came together. The Stadium is an amazing stop and the memory still can be found with the memorial that sits at the Stadium as well as on campus with the Memorial Fountain that sits just outside the student center.

For a great stop check out Heritage Farm . The Progress Museum contains scenes of everyday life from 1850 to 1950, as well as various artifacts and pictures from events throughout. The Transportation Museum houses not only planes, trains, and automobiles, but steam boats and stage coaches as well! In the Industry Museum, guests are invited to learn about some of the most important businesses from West Virginia’s history: salt mining, coal mining, and glass production. The Doll & Carriage Museum and re-created Country Store are both full of treasures and trinkets from yesteryear, while the Children’s Activity Museum allows kids to learn through hands-on opportunities. The Log Church welcomes guests into the center of the Village, and the Heritage Museum, which is only open during festival days, contains all of the artifacts from the original museum prior to expansion.
Restaurants include Bahnhof WVrsthaus & Biergarten, Le Bistro, Backyard Pizza and Raw Bar, Huntington Ale House, and La Famiglia.
Hotels include Double Tree by Hilton, Fairfield Inn and Suites, and Delta Hotels by Marriott Huntington.
