Saint Leo Oxford, MS

When one thinks of Oxford, MS, you generally have thoughts of Faulkner, University of Mississippi, great food, a closely niche community, the Square, and other southern traditions with this quaint southern town. Some time ago, a guy who was an alumni of the University of Mississippi told me about an Italian restaurant in Oxford that I must check out. Additionally, another rider told me the same. I generally would never, in my wildest dreams, thought you'd have an incredible Italian dining experience, but they were not kidding.

Tonight, I stopped by Saint Leo's to check it out, and I was not disappointed. From the moment you walk in, your dining experience begins from a beautiful ambiance of the restaurant, incredible wine selection, and a menu that offers incredible cuisine. The menu ranges from shareables, gourmet pizzas, entrees, and pasta. Tonight, I started with their grilled bread. Grilled to perfection, garlic rubbed, and I found it paired well with the Cordero di Montezemolo Arneis a floral white with light subtle flavors based out of Italy.

For entrees, I had their pepperoni, sausage, and Speck (similar to prosciutto) pizza. The pizza was incredible with a sauce that was a big hit along with the flavors of the meats. Hints of fennel are there also from the sausage. The saltiness of the Speck and Pepperoni open of the flavors of the pizza along with the fresh Mozzarella. The Rainstorm Pinot Noir paired well with this pizza. The light red wine balanced well with the intense flavors of the pizza.

The service by the hostess, servers, and staff was incredible. Highly recommend making reservations in advance, but they do take walk ins. After dinner or lunch, you can stroll the square and enjoy the various shops and boutiques the town of Oxford has to offer. Definitely add this as a dining experience next time you're visiting Oxford, MS. #ridingwithkurt
