Savannah, GA


Savannah, GA located along the Savannah River which divides Georgia from South Carolina is a historical stop that you will want to add to your travel bucket lists. The historic town offers beach, historic beauty, and plenty of dining experiences. The Old South can be seen in the architecture of the buildings along the river front and the Oak trees along with the hanging moss only whisper about the history that is once existed here.

In the movie Forrest Gump he shares his story with strangers as he waits for the number 9 bus. This actual spot can be visited at Chippewa Square in Savannah and the area is still the same as seen in the historic movie from the 1990's.

Another stop is Forsyth Park. The park is about 30 acres and has an amazing fountain at it's center.

For a beach experience head to Tybee Island. The island is located just of Savannah and has 5 miles of white sands. Plus Tybee island light house is a must stop.

A couple of dining experiences include Alligator Soul Restaurant, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, Circa 1875, and Joe's Crab Shack. All four offer a diverse culinary experience.

There are plenty of hotels that are located near the riverfront and offer great walking distance to the historic riverfront. Hyatt, Marriott, and Holiday Inn offer great stats and close proximity to the history and places to see in Savannah.

The riverfront offers plenty of restaurants, stores and historic attractions as well as great views of the Savannah River. You can spend an entire day just walking along the river front and take in the history of the buildings that sit amongst the river front. For the sweet tooth head to the Savannah Candy kitchen which is among the places along the River Front.

Savannah is a wonderful area of the country to add to your travel itineraries and will not disappoint your expectations of a historic city to visit.
