Tiptonville and Dyersburg, TN

If you're ever ever in Northwestern Tennessee and looking for a great restaurant with some fun outdoor activities in the area, then check out Boyette's Dining Room in Tiptonville, TN. The place has been recommended me by a couple of friends from the area. The restaurant looks a little rustic with some southern and cultural flair of the area, but the food is amazing. Known for their catfish and southern cuisine. The menu ranges from all sorts of southern fried classics like catfish, shrimp, clam strips, chicken, and frog legs. They even have country ham, sandwiches, salads, and traditional southern sides. I went with the two catfish Platter served with fries, onion rings, slaw, choice of white beans or green beans, and rolls or hush puppies. I will say if you are ever looking for incredible fried catfish, then check out Boyette's. The Cornmeal Breading and Seasoning with the light texture of the catfish that falls apart along with an amazing Tartar Sauce it is definitely up there with top fried catfish spots in Northwestern Tennessee. The sides were very good, especially the onion rings, slaw, and white beans. Excellent and friendly service with this hidden gem.

Across from the restaurant is the Reel Foot State Park. This lake was formed after a series of earthquakes from 1811 to 1812 from the New Madrid Fault line close by, which flooded the area. The area is known for the prestine beauty of the lake, waterfowl, hiking, photography, fishing, and hunting. The park is also home to a Birds of Prey rescue and sanctuary. You can view Eagles, owls, and redtail hawks. There is a museum and visitor center with information about the park. There is a hiking area that takes out along a boardwalk that you can view the lake.

We also discovered a hiking path close by called Black Bayou Hiking Trail, which is located in the reservation itself. It's definitely a peaceful hike about half a mile in length along the Black Bayou. The access is located off of Highway 78.

This is a great part of Tennessee to check out. Found staying in Dyersburg at the Sleep Inn was a great location to explore this area with close proximity to the highway. #ridingwithkurt
