Every day, I encounter fascinating individuals from around the globe. Yesterday, I met individuals from Australia, London, Columbia, and other remarkable places. Plus, I acquired some post-it notes for some of these places. One individual I had a great ride with from the airport was originally from Arizona. We talked about her native state and some of the great stops in one state that is dear to me.
If you're looking for a great stop in Arizona, head forty-five minutes east of Phoenix to an area that offers incredible geographic landscapes with a historical mining town. Tonto National Forest offers incredible hiking along with spectacular views of the desert, various cactus, and scenic landscapes. There is plenty of parking throughout the park, and it's as if you're on a different planet when visiting this area along with hiking.
Right next to Tonto National Park, you'll find the small mining town called Tortilla Flat. The population is only six but has a post office, mercantile, and restaurant. This is a unique town because it takes you back to the times of mining for gold in Arizona. Additionally, the Mercantile is great for getting unique Arizona souvenirs.
This area of Arizona was a unique find like many of my post-it notes. This area of Arizona is great to visit from September to June. I generally stay at The Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale when visiting the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. The hotel is only twenty-five minutes from The Phoenix Airport. If you're looking to add a visit to Arizona this upcoming 2025 year, then add Tonto National Forest and Tortilla Flat to the list. #ridingwithkurt
