I often get asked about places to visit in Florida. I generally recommend two areas that I have always enjoyed. One is on the Atlantic side, and the other is on the Gulf side. Both offer amazing beaches, amazing dining experiences, great tourist stops, plenty of history, and no shortage of things to do.
The first is Clearwater, FL. Clearwater is located just outside of Tampa Bay and has so many beautiful pristine beaches and a great family atmosphere. Additionally, there are a couple of stops that you should check out when you are there. The first is the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This is an amazing aquarium and offers a special behind the scenes tour of the turtle rescue. Another stop I enjoyed is just 45 minutes away, especially if you are a fan of putt putt is Smugglers Cove. The course offered a nice challenge, plus you can even feed the gators they have. For restaurants, Frenchy's is definitely a place to check out, but another restaurant I truly enjoyed is just south of Clearwater in Treasure Island, which is Sloppy Joe's. I found the restaurant amazing with a beautiful view of the Gulf Coast with amazing seafood. Additionally, the restaurant looks like something from the retro Era, and the drive from Clearwater to Sloppy Joe's is beautiful along highway 19. I have traveled to this area multiple times, but I found early October a great time of year to visit. For stays, I stayed at the Hilton
Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa. The hotel was amazing with easy access to the beach.
The second is the Fort Lauderdale area. This is a place that I have always enjoyed visiting. The area offers amazing beaches, excellent dining experiences, great stops for venturing to, and plenty to see and do. The area I generally stay in is just slightly north of Fort Lauderdale in Pampano Beach. Some of the things that I have enjoyed while visiting there are the Everglades, Hard Rock Hotel, driving to the Florida Keys, and going to Boca Raton. One restaurant I always tell individuals about is Luff's Fish House in Boca Raton. For Hotels Residence Inn and Ocean Sky offered excellent stays with access to the beach. #ridingwithkurt
