Today we headed East and saw the Hoover Dam. It was absolutely amazing. Over 700 feet in height and built in the 1930's it stands as one of the top wonders of the world. It is definitely worth a stop and at one point you can stand at both Arizona and Nevada. Make sure you check out the visitor center while you are there. Explains the history and what it took to build this amazing Dam that holds back Lake Mead and allows the Colorado River to flow through.
After the Hoover Dam we traveled north through the Virgin River Gorge and ended up in St. George, Utah to have lunch. This hidden gem recommended by a dear friend was excellent and worth the drive. The Peruvian restaurant Viva Chicken was excellent and their chicken has been Marinated for over 24 hours. The chicken was cooked Rotisserie style and pretty much fell of the bone and had so much flavor. The sides were very good as well.
We headed back down south and ended up back in Nevada at the Valley of Fire State Park. This place was awesome and well worth the trip seeing the amazing red rocks and the beauty that the park has to offer. Definitely check out the seven sisters Rock formations and Bee Hives rock formations while you are there.
We are staying another night in Las Vegas at the Strat hotel. Brand new near the strip but it has the tallest free standing observation tower in North America. Very nice with alot of up and coming attractions to the hotel.
Overall plenty of memories made and more to come tomorrow as we head towards New Mexico tomorrow.
