I've had recent discussions about upcoming travel for this summer. One area that often comes up is the Western United States. Especially one incredible National Park. This park is one that everyone should add for travel, at least one point in their life.
Yellowstone National Park is an incredible experience. This was part of my 2023 journey out west that included many stops by post-it notes. The park was my final National Park on that journey that concluded with a road trip of over 1800 miles. I had been to Yellowstone prior when I was in high school and living in Montana. This one was special because two of my kids were able to finally see a part of my life.
Today, you can visit this amazing park and see the west as it was back before the expansion out west. There are a few different entrances into the park. The West Gate I found very convenient and was not too far away from Old Faithful. Saw plenty of wildlife, including Elk, deer, Buffalo, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, and other amazing creatures. The park is filled with geysers, lakes, mountains, canyons, and so many geographic features.
For dining near the park, look at West Yellowstone. There is an awesome restaurant there called the Slippery Otter. They offer a variety of different dishes, including appetizers, salads, burgers, pizza, and entrees. I had their Jalapeño Wontons with a tangy dipping sauce as an appetizer. For the main dish, I had their Elk Burger, which was so good. Plus, a side of their fries it was a win all the way around.
For areas to stay, look at Idaho Falls, which is about an hour and a half away. The Comfort Suites was very nice and offered very large rooms, plus it was recently remodeled. They offered a complimentary breakfast as well and the staff was very friendly.
You can fly into either Salt Lake City, which is about three hours from Idaho Falls, ID, or Bozeman, MT, which is an hour and a half from the West Gate. You can't go wrong with either city. Add an experience for Yellowstone National Park for your travels in 2025. #ridingwithkurt
